Old Age Census Underway In Michigan Counties
Registration for the old age pension poll tax is underway in 73 of Michigan's 83 counties, with about one third of registrations completed. Thirteen counties not yet started include Isabell e, Oceana and Schoolcraft due to clerical opposition. Tax receipts are being sent to all county treasurers and 35,000 applications have been filed so far. Enumerators are active in Gogebic and Bessemer areas with named local workers.

Ironwood Lawyer Byron Brogan Found Dead at Store Basement
Byron Brogan, a former Ironwood attorney long active in Gogebic County, was found dead Monday in the basement of the jewelry store he managed. Described as despondent over financial worries, he had retired from active practice. Survived by his mother, Mrs. Martin Brogan, four sisters, and a widow, Anna Pawler Brogan. Funeral services were held in Ironwood yesterday.
