Bessemer Common Council Holds December 1950 Meeting
The Bessemer Common Council met December 4 1950 at 7 30 P M with Mayor Shaw presiding. Reports from the Finance Committee list many payments including labor payrolls utility bills hardware and insurance. The council approved warrants when funds allow and authorized attic insulation purchases for the Veterans Memorial Building. A resolution designated local city property near the pump station pond and bluffs as a city playground to be run without charge. Officials were authorized to seek donations for the playground and to request nearby fire officials meet to set fire call charges. Fire trucks may be sent to Hurley and other nearby towns during emergencies.
