Mass Electric Co eyeing Stockbridge Road land in Crissey Flats area
Allan Herrmann of Massachusetts Electric confirms the company is eyeing land along Stockbridge Road Stockbridge area for a potential service building with no commitments made. The Board of Selectmen and Planning Board back a zoning change to extend the business district from 1000 to 2500 feet, amid local fears over a nearby drive in theater project and possible “other interests.” The bank sign reads Instalment Loan Department, noting the preferred banking spelling.

Bells Return To New Lebanon Church After Twenty Years
In New Lebanon New York Easter Sunday marked the first peal from the rebuilt Congregational Church tower since a 1944 fire destroyed the previous steeple. John H Fiske and family funded the bell and its installation as a gesture toward religious unity. The 250 pound bell, created by the C Bell Company between 1882 and 1894, was recovered from a building and recast after the old bell melted in the blaze. The current church, without a spire, was completed and dedicated in May 1955.
