Bennington hosts rare tropical plants venture in a jungle display
Randy Shropshire and Jim Eagan launched a Bennington based rare tropical plant business during the Battle Day parade. In a month they expanded to cover much of New England, airing large specimens on Norton Street and at a Manchester flea market. Plants such as ficus trees and 10 foot areca palms drew crowds, and a local firm eyed a decoration order. Most stock comes from Mexico, the Mediterranean and southern California, shipped from Florida in an insulated van with climate controls. Fireplaces built by Shropshire are shown at 3 Pine Circle, and a sale is open daily 8 am to 5 pm. For info, call 442-5332.
