Dorset Church Considers Sale Of Its 100 Year Old Manse
Members of the United Church of Dorset and East Rupert discussed an offer to buy the 100 year old Manse. A vote is set for next Tuesday at 8 p.m. The board weighed keeping the Manse and repairs against buying the newer Kennard home or building a parish house on church land. Contractor Guy Stone assessed repair costs around 15000 dollars, with upgrades to wiring, roof, heat, and interior decorating noted. The Kennard house offers more space and modern amenities, while the Manse is smaller and deteriorating. Public viewing and member input procedures were outlined, with letters acceptable for absent members.
