Bennington Banner (Newspaper) - November 21, 1970, Bennington, Vermont New route 7 ready by �?T75, so they say the Vermont Highway department has released this Aerial map showing the design of the new route 7 North from the Deer Park in Bennington lower right Corner of the map. Also shown Are the Cloverleaf sections with Entrance and exit ramps one from Park Street to the new Highway and the other giving Entrance and exit in the area of the intersection of present . 7 and Vermont 67a. The latter Cloverleaf will permit exit from the new Highway to Northside drive the a a Flats commercial area North of Bennington Village. Also shown on the map is the Road leading to the West which intersects 67a just South of the Globe Union Plant the roof of the latter is the Small White rectangle in the left Center of the map. Also shown is the preliminary design of the Road which eventually will become part of the Western Section of the Bennington Beatline. The Walloomsac River is shown in its wandering course from Bennington Village and leading Westward to the new York state line. To the North can be seen the present Houghton Lane leading Easterly to Park Street Extension. Further North As the new route 7 swings to the East is the half Clover Leaf exit to the present 4 w j to Shaftsbury it a Jbf or a a % Rice Lane run % Globe Union silk Road for in a a Watn a drive in theatre in St Ati of of to profi allo Onisa River Bocher drive a is i it Highway and thence North to South Shaftsbury. Just beyond the top Edge of the map is approximately the Bennington Shaftsbury town line. Present route 7 is shown As a narrow White line running parallel and a Little West of the new Highway. The Railroad line is the greyish Mark found running a Little North of the Globe Union Plant. Although the reproduction of some details on the map Here cannot be As Clear As the original persons interested May see the map in the Bennington listers office. The original is about eight feet High. The Highway department has contracted with an Albany n.y., firm to make appraisals and conduct preliminary negotiations with owners of the properties estimated at about too that will be taken for the Road. This firm makes its appraisals after consulting with the owners and the state then makes an offer to buy at the figure set by the appraisers. If the property owner is not satisfied he May take the matter to a county court jury trial. In most cases however time and Money is saved for All concerned if the appraisal figure is accepted. Construction on the new Highway is expected to Start next year with a completion Date of 1975. Deer Park
