Harrowing Fort Lewis ski trip to Durango ends in relief
Peter Graves and nine others plus coach Adolph Kuss endured a severe late summer backpacking trek in Colorado. A two day snowstorm halted plans, flooding and high water blocked crossings, and a 35 mile return to Durango via Silverton proved grueling. After weather finally eased a van collected the exhausted party.
