Garrison Receives Two-Week Stay to Plan Payments
The Garrison Printing Division of North Bennington gains an additional two weeks to prepare a comprehensive creditor payment plan under Chapter II bankruptcy. BCIC spokesman John H. Williams notes the company remains in the same position as after the April filing, with possible outcomes including a reorganization plan acceptance or a further extension leading to liquidation if creditors deem progress unlikely. Plant manager George Smith cites $800,000 in current business and $200,000 in prepaid inventory, but insufficient working capital, exploring state loans, private banking, or a larger company acquisition to fund operations. The Vermont Industrial Building Authority may loan guarantees if private funds are pledged. since 1964 the state has lent about $2.4 million with roughly $600,000 repaid by mid-1970.
