Mt Anthony teachers refuse contract but plan to work Sept 7

Mt Anthony Union High School teachers decline to sign contracts for the upcoming year yet vow to be on duty when school opens September 7. Over 60 teachers met and decided to forward a second letter to Superintendent Catherine Corcoran, challenging the board’s contract. The SWVEA says the posted contract is ambiguous and seeks guidance from counsel.

Kansas may press appeal at Brattleboro AEC hearing

Kansas may air disposal plans at the August Atomic Energy Commission hearing in Brattleboro. Assistant Attorney General Edward Collister said Kansas may intervene August 10 in Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant licensing, while awaiting a Maryland appeals court ruling on environmental issue reviews. State board upholds power line decision

The Vermont Environmental Board upheld a permit for a 4.6 mile overhead power line from Rawsonville to Stratton issued to Central Vermont Public Service Corp. by the former Bennington District Environmental Commission. Four to two decision set nine conditions, with ongoing appeals by nearby property owners and CVPS.
