Williams Art Museum Acquires 15th Century Sculpture
Williams College Museum of Art announces its acquisition of a 15th century Italian wooden Virgin Mary statue titled Mater Domini. Dating to about 1450, the life-size piece likely originated near the Abruzzi region, with Christ Child once located on the Virgin’s lap. The purchase was funded by Karl E. Weston Memorial Fund and a local anonymous gift.
