Early Adjournment Stalled by Pay Schedule Clash
The 1967 legislature faces two ideas for an April adjournment, April 8 or 15, with a plan to reconvene next January for a 10 to 12 week session. A two session year requires amending the pay bill. current pay is 3000 per session plus expenses, 1200 for special sessions. Some senators urged delaying adjournment and letting Gov Hoff call a 1968 special session, but most favored amending the pay schedule. The Senate debated the issues but took no action, awaiting the Rules Committees to decide on the cutoff date while floor amendments would be required.
