North Bennington Trustees cheer 8000 surplus
North Bennington villagers end the year with a surplus of over 8000 dollars as trustees balanced the books for the year ending Feb 1 1966. The balance started at 3000 dollars and about 2000 came from Vermont Highway Department state aid for the Water Street resurfacing project done in 1965. The remaining 2000 came from economies in village operations. The new grand list influence reduced the expected tax rate increase. The 1967 budget planning continues with the surplus to be reflected in the annual meeting's tax recommendations.
