Key Ky Aide Calls For U.S. Army Action Probe

A top aide to Premier Nguyen Cao Ky urged a U.S. congressional inquiry into an American effort to extend military jurisdiction over Vietnamese civilians. The request for the probe was made by Maj. Narrow Escape As 70 mph Winds Lift Trailer

A mother Mary Means 28 and her one year old daughter Diane survived a 50 second ordeal when winds up to 70 miles per hour ripped their trailer from its foundation at Griffiss Air Force Base and hurled it about 150 feet landing on its top. The child was asleep in a crib during the peril and was later found wrapped in blankets. Both were treated and discharged for cuts and bruises.

Danforth Murder Case Shocks North Pownal Family

James Charles Danforth age 16 is charged with first degree murder in the death of his father Joseph C. Danforth 42 shot at the family home on Snake Hill Road. James and co-defendant Marshall Bailey 18 were arrested after a statewide search for the two tone green 1962 Chevrolet sedan. Bail set at 25 000 for the son and 4500 for Bailey. The elder Danforth, a deputy sheriff and former scoutmaster, was active in local politics and survived by wife Nellie and four sons including James John 18 Patrick 14 and the missing or unaccounted. Investigators say the shooting followed a father son argument over the family car. The two suspects await transfer to a state hospital or prison.
