In Bennington the proposed 840000 bond for a new elementary school on Stark Street failed 1379 to 550 after a heavy turnout of almost 2000 district voters. Citizens' group co chair Robert Condon noted the decisive result.

A Piper Cub crashed into the 15th floor of Hollywood Towers in Chicago's North Side killing the pilot and a passenger. Debris litters the scene as police reroute traffic.
Bennington Village trustees balk at a town warning article seeking a $5,000 sinking fund to buy highway equipment.
