Lawsuit details elder abuse allegations and sheriff's response
A civil suit recounts a claim of elder abuse involving a woman and two men. Sheriff Schaffer said the report was sent to supervisors but not fully investigated. Eight children removed from Baytown home after find of two missing kids
Baytown police located two missing five year olds wandering a mile from a West James residence. Eight children under 14 and five adults were found at the home in disarray with foul odor and insect infestation. Mothers tested for drugs. DFS placed children in protective custody. DA will not file charges now. Crime Stoppers offers tips and up to $5000 reward.

Federal whistleblower suit against Chambers County withdrawn
A state court granted summary judgment ending the case against Chambers County and Sheriff Brian Hawthorne. Separately, the plaintiff dropped the federal suit against the department.
