Chambers County Lawsuit Against Sheriff Tossed
A Texas whistleblower act suit against Chambers County and Sheriff Brian Hawthorne was dismissed after 344th District Court Judge Randy McDonald granted summary judgment for the county. Former deputy Paul Schaffer alleged retaliation for reporting misconduct in the Sheriff's Office after an incident on September 11, 2013 at the courthouse where an elderly woman claimed fear of two men who had brought her in.
