Chambers County man gets 60 year armed robbery sentence

A Chambers County jury sentenced 47 year old Charles Ray Drewery to 60 years for an armed robbery of a Old River-Winfree convenience store in 1998. DNA from a cigar tied Drewery to the crime, and the judge stacked the sentence on his existing 25 year term, with no parole until 2029.

Gun fire damages gas tank after neighbor dispute in Baytown

A Baytown woman reported two gunshots to her gas tank during a Wednesday dispute over parking with a neighbor on Pearl Avenue. Police found two holes in the tank and interviewed neighbors who denied involvement. A separate Baytown man was cited for public intoxication and charged with family violence after allegedly choking his sister for not giving him a Lone Star Card. He was arrested after police observed his intoxication and urination on himself. Police logged 179 calls from Wednesday to Thursday, including 17 alarms, two assaults, four auto thefts, five burglaries, and three accidents.
