Baytown Heritage Society highlights year of history work
Bay Area Heritage Society reflected on a year of history preservation at its annual event in Baytown. Plans include preserving Baytown's legacy through the Baytown Historical Museum and Republic of Texas Plaza with the Brown-McKay House. Museum attendance rose about 40 visitors. volunteers use the 1910 Brown-McKay House as an educational tool. The group completed work at Carver school and Lee Drive and placed a memorial marker. A. Jean Shepherd scholarship winner Sarah Blake, a Lee College sophomore and secretary of the student group, was announced.

The project aims to restore about 40 homes for elderly or disabled residents but was slowed by heavy rain. Over 100 volunteers are working in Baytown this week with plans to return Sunday.

Charter Review Committee completes first pass in Baytown
The Baytown Sun reports the Charter Review Committee finished its initial pass through 12 articles of Baytown’s charter and opened talks on public forums.
