Basic stylish furnishings for a first apartment
A Boston interior decorator advises young couples to focus on core living room and bedroom pieces. Choose a neutral upholstered sofa, a box spring and mattress, and a simple fabric wall treatment instead of a headboard. Use flexible storage, washable rugs, and inexpensive vintage finds like a sea chest for a cocktail table. Emphasize greenery and easy maintenance with plants.
