Bitterly sets UTSA distance running records and career marks

Jessica Bitterly, a Robert E. Lee graduate, left a lasting mark at UTSA with the third fastest 3000-meter steeplechase time of 11:08.39 and fifth fastest indoor 5000-meter time of 18:08.49. She earned points in three conferences, set an outdoor best 5000m time of 17:58.13, and finished her cross country career with a 22:48 NCAA regional run. Bitterly, daughter of Michelle and Charlie, earned a BA in kinesiology and plans further studies at Texas Woman's University to pursue dietitian roles. She appeared on UTSA Dean's and President's Lists.

St Julian Brothers Inducted Into PVILCA Hall of Fame

Kenneth St Julian born August 27 1946 in Baytown Texas rose from Harlem Elementary to Carver High in Baytown where he helped win PVIL track titles. He later attended Texas Southern University on a track scholarship and served two years in the Army including Vietnam duty. Inducted in 2013 alongside his brother Ernest Coy St Julian, the pair are celebrated as Baytown Carver track legends with 14 grandchildren and nine children among their ties to Holy Family Church and local community activities. The PVILCA ceremony is July 27 at the Westin Hotel Irving.

Local football camp set at Ganders Field this summer
