iChildren Can Be Tax Boon
A child's summer job may be a tax boon to many parents. Linda Jacobsen notes that both parents and working child can claim $600 exemptions. If the child earns more than $600, the parent may still claim an exemption for supporting the child. The youth can have his own personal exemption if he is a full time student or under 19. This allows two taxpayers to claim the 3600 personal deduction for the same person.
