County flood bonds urged to save Harris funds
Harris County voters are urged to approve flood control bonds next Tuesday July 1 to save millions in property loss and damage. Absentee voting ends Friday with 208 voters having already cast ballots. County Commissioner V V Ramsey promotes the bonds citing tax base growth and debt retirement plans, while TRA notes bonds could be issued without tax increases.

Services Set For Baytown Businessman Sanders
Dealt has come to L. G. Prat Sanders a prominent Baytown businessman for over four decades. He died at 7 20 p m Wednesday in Methodist Hospital in Houston. He came here as Cedar Bayou school principal in 1922 and served until 1926 when he became manager of Culpepper Furniture Store. He later partnered with Hugh Beehals in Culpepper s and Citizens National Bank and Trust Co. He retired from Culpepper s in 1964 and later stayed active at the bank. In late 1967 he took a vacation from the bank post and planned retirement. He fell ill last year and had extended hospital stays in Baytown and Houston. He underwent serious surgery at Houston Methodist Hospital and died from complications. Funeral services will be held Friday at Memorial Baptist Church with Dr W Edward Thiele officiating. Besides his wife Thelma he leaves son Leonard G Sanders of Baytown, sister Mrs John G Irwin of Houston, and brother Roy Sanders of Fort Worth. Memorial gifts to the Harris County Chapter American Heart Association are preferred. Pallbearers are Maurice W Morgan Bra A Yount John Hartman and Dr Lee Liggett. Honorary pallbearers are officers, directors and employees of Citizens National Bank, Citizens of Texas Savings and Culpepper Furniture. October Target Month For Bond Vote Here
