A propane tank knocked over by a departing homeowner Sunday night cracked open and fed a gas fire that destroyed a house on Cajun Way in the Plantation on Cotton Bayou subdivision. The blaze, which started when the air conditioner kicked on, was accidental with no injuries reported.
Detective Eric Freed said the Fourth of July weekend was reasonably quiet with four fireworks reports on Monday, down from 62 last year. Officers could not locate any offenders. Two shots fired complaints were received, far fewer than 11 last year.
Police responded to 7400 block of Willow Oak Drive around 11 45 PM after a woman reported her estranged husband outside her home refusing to leave. He claimed a warrant for his arrest and asked to be jailed, but none was found. the 50 year old Crosby resident was arrested for public intoxication.
Unspecified property was reported stolen from the 10 block of Parkbriar Circle between 7:15 p.m. Monday and 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. A theft occurred at a business in the 1600 block of North Alexander Drive about 2 a.m. Tuesday and a residence theft on Northwood Drive near 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The weekend saw thefts including two watches and a ring from a residence in the 5300 block of North Highway 146. Baytown police filed 28 offense reports covering seven assaults seven burglaries one criminal mischief and four thefts with four other arrests and five additional reports overall.
A 23-year-old Baytown man was arrested around 1 am after stepping into the path of a patrol car. He showed intoxication, became hostile inside the vehicle, attempted to kick out a window, and was subdued with a Taser without injury.
Police logged several burglaries with items including vision and other electronics reportedly stolen from residences in the 200 block of East Defoe Avenue between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday and the 3400 block of Garth Road from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday. additional thefts involved money from the 2200 block of Cedar Bayou Road between 1 and 3 p.m. Sunday and a residence on Massey Tompkins Road around 11:30 p.m. The incidents span multiple blocks and times with no immediate arrests reported.
