Orchard Losses in York County from Severe Winter
It is impossible to estimate monetary losses to York County fruit growers from last winter’s extreme cold. In the Dole or chards near the Limerick Limington line more than 1800 trees suffered over 500 apple trees. Fall crops will be reduced by about 40 percent from the usual 3000 barrels. Nearly half the trees in Haley orchards at Limerick were killed during winter.
