Wiscasset Senior play shines with community support

The 1936 Wiscasset academy senior class presented The Man From Nowhere at Red Men’s hall to a full house on Tuesday night. Mrs. Eulela Pray coached the cast, with a Richmond orchestra providing music after. Highlights include Mrs Craddock, Hilda Swenson, and Walter Pushard among the leads, and the graduating exercises feature Joanna Evans and Walter Pushard in key roles.

Annual State D A R Session Opens in Bath

Mrs. Victor Abbot Binford of Roxbury state regent presided at the annual D A R session in Bath. Knox Memorial Association president Mrs Anne Snow was principal speaker, substituting for ill Col Edward Gould. Snow is a past state president of the Maine American Legion Auxiliary. Past regents present included Mrs John Alden Morse of Bath and others. The gathering featured greetings from Bath officials and a program of music and pledge.

Brunswick Tops Colonials In Winter Bowling Rout

Brunswick defeated the Colonial club 11-8 to pull even at 18 apiece as the two clubs resume their three part winter series. Crimmins led Brunswick with a 303. Randlette was the top Colonial bowler with 1730 pins in the match. The next session is set for March 25 at Brunswick with the title on the line.

Shamrock Revue Delights West Bath Grange Members

The Shamrock Revue directed by Mrs. Edgar D. Leavitt delighted 73 members and 11 visitors at West Bath Grange Monday. Elected 14 candidates for membership. degrees set for April 6 and 13. Pro tems included Leon Genthner and Mrs. Cavanaugh. A lively program featured songs, jokes, and vaudeville by the Goofy Gobs, with performers such as Maggie Morrisey and Miss Dorothey Welch. A future dance is planned with Barbara Freeman in charge. City Marshal Whitney investigates a missing man who left town after a bill dispute, a similar complaint having occurred two years earlier.

Morse High Lassies Triumph Over Westbrook Bruins

Morse high girls beat Westbrook high 30 to 12 in Bath gym Saturday. Dorothy Wing led Bath with 15 points, Cora Mae Pearson added 9, and Morse guard duo Anliker and Crocker controlled play as Morse posted six wins in the 1935 36 season. Mrs. W E McIntire noted robins near Small Point.

Woolwich Club Meets and Town News Noted in Sagadahoc Ferry

The Good Will Club of Woolwich gathered at Mrs Edward Reed’s Sagadahoc Ferry home for a meeting followed by sewing and social time with refreshments. Attendees included Mrs Costello P Hall and others, with plans for the March 25 meeting hosted by Mrs Charles V Hunnewell. Also, Harvey Henderson Jr returned home to convalesce after hospital treatment. Rev. Walter Swank began work with the Oxford County United parish, arriving in North Waterford with his family. Several residents visited relatives, and local schools face illnesses and closures. Community events include a dance at the grange hall and the Nequasset Farm Bureau meeting in April.
