Solving the Alien Problem A Historic Deportation Trend
A Department of Labor report shows more aliens left the United States than entered in the first four months of the year, with about 400,000 aliens in the country without rights. Removal is not harsh and safeguards exist, but if a court orders deportation they must go. Throughout the year ending June 30, entries exceeded departures by an estimated 60,000 to 70,000, a record pace since the Civil War. The piece warns of immigration levels comparable to 1914 and laments a hypothetical Republican Congress in 1921 for not enforcing limits.
