Narrow escape as fire threatens Pendleton boat shop
A serious blaze was narrowly avoided at the Pendleton boat shop in Wiscasset early Thursday after a 14 ton lead keel was cooled and left overnight. Firemen responded quickly in sub zero weather, causing little damage though the 67 foot yacht being built for Mr. Babson of Detroit faced potential ruin. Pendleton will employ about 25 workers through July as he winds up contracts for a second boat for Mr. Peterson and a third for Mr. Edwards.
