Vermont Bridge Question at Winnegance Meet
Maine Highway Commission and Bath Sagadahoc county officials considered building a fill at Winnegance to replace the current bridge. A full-width fill with a spillway near the Phippsburg shore would use rock downstream and gravel and earth upstream, with an 18 foot spillway and a crest about three feet above mean sea level to allow upstream flow at high tide. Concrete over the spillway and ashlar walls would form the structure. cost estimated at 54 350 dollars with shares divided among the State Sagadahoc County Bath and Phippsburg City.
