Century-Old Bath Resident Ellen Ford Reaches Century Mark
Ellen C. Ford, born 1832 in Paris Cape Missouri, celebrated her 100th birthday at Towson Maryland with family. A Bath native, she married William G. Ford in 1853 and lived on a Maine farm before settling in Maryland. Surviving children include Nelle Haviland and Annie Small, with 18 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Bath Celebrates 150 Years Since Bath Became Town
Bath marks its 150th anniversary this March as the second parish of Georgetown becomes the separate town of Bath. The 1780 act created Bath with bounds defined by New Meadows river Merrymetting Bay Kennedec river and Winneganee Creek, with residents to pay Georgetown taxes until full incorporation. Samuel Harnden led the initial Bath meeting on March 19, John Wood named town clerk, and early leaders included William Swanton and Benjamin Lemont.

Smelt camps rescued after dangerous river ice breakup
Eight smelt camps drifted down the Kennebec and Sasanoa after midnight Friday as an ice formation known as the Gut broke away during a high tide. Capt. Leonard W. Oliver and others were rescued by a skiff. three camps were recovered Saturday by Capt. Llewellyn Oliver and son Merton near Squirrel Point light. Remaining camps were salvage to Bath and Arrowsic area with stoves and equipment intact.
