Gubernatorial Nominations and Penobscot Ballot Plan
In Penobscot County three Republican candidates for Maine governor vie for the nomination. Proposals urge an elimination ballot among 10,000 voters to pool support before June primaries, with Parkhurst Bailey and Higgins as possible frontrunners. The outcome could decide whether a local favorite son leads the ticket in 1920. Bangor city clashes over fire engine procurement reveal veto and legal concerns, while Bath and Bath prices probe defend grocers as not profiteering.
