Bath Merchants Urge Old Road Preference Over New Route
Public funds should favor the existing old road as it serves a larger population and supports many roadside businesses. Changing to the new route would lower property values for residents along the old road and raise land prices along the new highway, benefiting a small minority while harming most. Bath merchants urge Maine to keep the existing route to protect tourism and local livelihoods and question the 1934 highway decision.
