A wave of car thefts hit the city with a black 141 Ford owned by Paul B. Wilson taken from Front street. The vehicle was recovered about 3 30 this morning by Patrolman Waldo R. Motor vehicle cases heard in municipal court Monday
Three motor vehicle violations from State Police and three intoxication cases from local officers opened the Monday docket in Municipal Court with Judge Gardiner R. Deering presiding. Thomas R. Stanley of Camden pleaded guilty to passing on a hill and paid $10 fine plus $4.70 costs. Jerome Rothschild of Raymond Court admitted leaving the scene of an accident and faced $50 fine and $4.70 costs or two months in jail. Perley M. Denaco of Farrin Street admitted driving under the influence and faced $100 fine and $6.50 costs or two months in jail. Three others jailed on intoxication charges received varying penalties including suspended sentences and probation. Col W. J. Calvert presented the War Food Administration’s award to Burnham & Morrill Co. plants. Charles F. Morrill accepted for the firm.
