Legislature to enter session with Republican majority

State returns show Wm B Ross leading John W Hay for governor by about 300 to 400 votes. Senate to hold a small Democratic presence, with the House of 60 Republicans dominating. Hay narrows Ross lead in precincts, but Ross likely to win overall. All other statewide offices Republican. Big Horn county chosen for a tubercular sanitarium site. Amendment No 1 defeated. No 2 could pass.

Arrests in Sheridan Involving Doctor and Mrs St Clare

Dr W S Bennett 62 and Mrs W E St Clare 31, both of Greybull, were fined 50 dollars and costs after a hotel raid in Sheridan. Officers said St Clare tried to crawl from a window, the couple had registered under assumed names, and they faced further Greybull warrants while Bennett planned to move to Lodge Grass Montana. The case included divorce, alleged abuse, and a nurse role for Mrs St Clare.

TROUBLES HEARD IN COURT IN GREYBULL DIVORCE CASE

Jennie M St Clair filed for divorce from W E St Clair in Greybull. A custody order swung between parents as actions followed arrests in Sheridan involving Dr W S Bennett. A kidnapping warrant was issued for Mrs St Clair, and the child was ultimately given to the father with the mother leaving for Cheyenne. Authorities may pursue federal charges against Bennett.

The county canvassing board met this week and announced elected precinct officers. Road Supervisors include Dan Snyder Burlington and 20 others across towns such as St Joe and Odessa.
