Other events include the Presbyterian ladies aid bazaar December 2, bridge parties hosted by Mesdames West and Brill, and Owlbridge club gathering hosted by Mr and Mrs Armeling with guests. Ninety-Nine Feared Dead In Dolomite Mine Disaster
A dust explosion in Woodward Iron No 8 mine at Dolomite near Birmingham on November 22 killed about 83 miners with the death toll expected to reach 100. More than 300 workers were trapped as skip cars broke loose igniting dust, fire hindered rescues, and a large relief effort from local and state agencies mobilized.
