The Presbyterian church announces Sunday school at 10 a.m. with Mrs. Maggie J. Arnot t as superintendent and morning worship at 11 a.m. August 31 theme Christ Jesus. Wednesday testimonial meetings at 8 p.m. Reading rooms open daily 3 to 5 p.m. for all ages up to twenty. All are invited.
Water shortages force authorities to curtail use and redirect supplies. Under water commissioner 8 T Johnson water was drawn into Beach canal for 48 hours to moisten fruit trees gardens and potatoes.
Water authorities praise early water rights owners for temporarily yielding canal flow. Turning off the Farmer's canal filled small ditches, enabling reservoirs to be stocked and gardens watered. Officials say the move preserves a pot crop for next season and expresses gratitude for public-spirited action.
The winter inspection across Emblem and Burlington-Otto counties finds water shortages limiting crops but preserving some feed. First cutting generally good, some second cuttings fair. Pastures and mature grains provide usable hay and feed, fruit trees saved with ample watering, gardens and potatoes modest but promising.
