Carburetors are delicate metering devices and should not be adjusted without skill. Often the fault lies elsewhere. Front wheel spokes darken with grease indicating bearings may need lubrication. Camp Fire Girls Begin Meetings at Boy Scout Building

The Camp Fire Girls held their first meeting in the Boy Scout building on Wednesday and will meet there as dates allow. The Laka wana Camp Fire Girls, newly formed, paid dues and await their charter. Miss Calloway to supervise another unit if guardian found. The group plans wood gathering and hosted a Halloween party with seventh and eighth graders and a Mexican band. Armistice Day plans note Mrs Roy Chapin and daughter Leila going to Huntington Beach for the Orange County celebration.

Beacons to be Inspected Weekly on Gold Star Route

E L Kennedy of the Department of Commerce Airways 67 reported in town that twenty seven air beacons between Los Angeles and Cronese must be inspected weekly. Six months without a beacon failing to operate earns a gold star for the route. Kennedy said the beacons have passed the experimental stage with little trouble.

Congregational church dinner serves over a hundred

More than a hundred people enjoyed the Congregational church annual dinner in the church basement on Wednesday. Mr Weithoff played two violin solos with Mrs Weithoff at the piano, and the choir sang several negro spirituals. C E Pray, roundhouse foreman, is home from Santa Fe hospital after foot trouble. Mrs Paul Sullivan and Wardell Evans of San Bernardino attended the Halloween dance. Mrs Sullivan lived here years ago. Miss Smith and Miss Beaumont, local high school teachers, visited homes in Los Angeles over the weekend.

Old Mining Camp Building Reveals Mystery Cache

Workmen in Hawthorn Nevada cut through a wall uncovering a cache of two Rainier beer bottles and an 18 by 18 inch original photograph of the Eureka mill from nearly 50 years ago. The building dates to 1881 as a W. and C. railroad station and warehouse and held the hidden items for 49 years. The bottles likely lost their contents. the cork down might have preserved some. The photo, signed by Al Smith Tonopah’s pioneer photographer, remains in fine condition.
