Surprise thefts end with arrest at Minneola service station

Reed Service Station in Minneola reported two young men who had stolen a can of coffee a flash light and a blanket from Mr Reed and then asked to cook breakfast at the station. Daggett officers Jim Imeas and L S Sample located and escorted the suspects to Daggett.

Pre-Halloween pranks injure janitor at grammar school

Several students tipped a stove and tied chairs to the stove door during a late Wednesday night prank at the grammar school. Janitor Mrs. Stutsberry cut her palm badly and required six stitches.Sir Jagatjit concluded a brief stay with a goodwill tour, leaving for San Francisco en route to the Orient aboard a ship.

Dr L. L. Benson reported to Belso Sunday morning and found Union Pacific engineer Frank C. Schiller dead from a stroke. He was seated in a chair with a newspaper in his hand. White and Platt of Barstow prepared the body.

Kiwanis Elects George Cunningham President

Barstow Kiwanis Club elected George Cunningham president for the coming year to attend the California Nevada Convention in Long Beach. Harvey Mosier was elected district trustee. Henry L. Miller vice president and Albert A. Weld treasurer. A board of directors includes Lubin J. Henderson, Ed Seymour, Ad Morgan, George Henderson, Reece Dillingham, Lloyd E. Tiernan, George Siemon, and Ray F. O'Brien. Ray spoke on state bank inspections before resigning to lead a San Bernardino office for Pacific States Savings and Loan.

Mock Marriage at 20-30 Club Sparks Theatrics

An informal mock marriage occurred Tuesday night at the 20-30 Club where single men entertained married men. Father Herbert Gouldin led his daughter Al Pocock to the alter as Carl Jordann officiated. A baby was welcomed with a bank account opened for Mr and Mrs Russell Riley. attendance contests spark a month of rivalries.

Robbery Strikes Henderson and Son Store and Pool Hall

Robbers broke through a Henderson and Son clothing shop door Wednesday night and stole clothing worth several hundred dollars. They dressed entirely in high quality garments and were gone by morning. The Smith and Pleasant pool hall was robbed the same night with a broken ceiling hole and damaged slot machines but no large stock taken. A Jacobson Jewelry store ceiling hole was made but the shop remained unentered.
