Forest Service orders campers to carry shovel and axe
Under a 1927 order from the Secretary of Agriculture the California District Forest Service designates California and southwestern Nevada forests as fire hazard areas. Campers must carry at least one shovel and one axe per vehicle or pack outfit, sized for firefighting. Violations subject offenders to federal penalties.

Bids Sought for New Hodge School Building California
Pursuant to a June 1927 Board order sealed bids are invited by the Hodge School District San Bernardino County California for construction of a new school building and furnishing of all materials and labor. Bids must be received by 5 PM July 14 1927 at the board offices in Hodge with copies of plans and specifications available from F M Brooke. A $10 deposit is required on each set and ten days allowed for examination. The board reserves the right to reject any or all bids.
