Captured Pilot's Diary of Knife Edge Air Fight and War Wounds
The diary recalls an August 17, 1917 aerial duel over German lines. After downing two Huns, the narrator is shot up, trapped in a burning two seater, crashes, and is taken prisoner. He endures a rough German hospital stay, shares tales with officers, and reflects on chivalry and shared resolve amid the war.
