Barstow launches a war stamp drive with Mrs. Pitcher as campaign chair appointing solicitors for town sections. American troops advance near Chateau Thierry in Belleau Wood

Washington reports Allied gains as American troops northwest of Chateau Thierry push forward in Belleau Wood capturing 250 prisoners and several machine guns and trench mortars. Paris notes a major French offensive along about 70 miles of front recapturing Belloy and Genlis Wood with over 1,000 German prisoners. West Point cites Baker predicting over 100,000 U S troops in France soon, with total disembarkations approaching 1,000,000.
