Elks Back Federal Plan For Elk Conservation
The Grand Lodge of Elks in Atlantic City endorsed a U S plan to conserve elk herds in the United States. A committee is to work with Federal representatives to implement the program. The group urged Congress to add a land strip between Absaroka and Gallatin Forests extending from Yellowstone to support elk protection, allowing land gifts or exchanges and including adjacent private lands within national forests.
