Two week horticultural short course at University Farm Davis runs December 9 to 20 for deciduous fruit growers. Dean Thomas Forsyth Hunt notes the program covers pruning principles for young trees and bearing trees, including early summer adjustments to optimize growth.
The twelfth car of ore from Rand Divide Silver Mine was shipped to the smelter. Two cars of 70 ounce ore remain on the dump with 835 sacks of high grade ore ready for shipment. Contractors report power, tracks, and leasers advancing as the Rand district develops into a major silver camp.
Denver July 29 1919 by a vote of 1439 to 12 the United States Chamber of Commerce backs returning railroads to private ownership with government regulation. Announcement followed a June 9 to last week referendum at a dinner. Washington July 26 Senator Cummins says railways will be returned to private owners by January 1 1920 with protective legislation.
The Seventh Day Adventists of the Southern California Conference plan their annual camp meeting in Orange from July 31 to August 10. Daily from ten to twelve meetings will draw thousands from across southern California. Leaders from Washington DC and Massachusetts join regional speakers, with over 200 family tents and four large tents for general gatherings already set up.
Town Topics notes the moving picture Love Auction to be shown at the Fletcher Theatre Sunday night. The film centers on a woman chasing happiness through money who learns love is the true force behind contentment.
