Railroads to Private Ownership Vote Endorsed

Denver July 29 1919 by a vote of 1439 to 12 the United States Chamber of Commerce backs returning railroads to private ownership with government regulation. Announcement followed a June 9 to last week referendum at a dinner. Washington July 26 Senator Cummins says railways will be returned to private owners by January 1 1920 with protective legislation.

The Seventh Day Adventists of the Southern California Conference plan their annual camp meeting in Orange from July 31 to August 10. Daily from ten to twelve meetings will draw thousands from across southern California. Local Canteen Treats Czecho Soldiers on Barstow Stop

Four troop trains of Czecho-Slovak soldiers passed through Barstow Monday evening after leaving Camp Kearny. Once weak from Siberia, they regained health under medical care and sang native songs during a brief stop. A Canteen Captain and helpers provided American cigarettes and thanks from officers, while the men faced a long journey ahead to New York and then Europe.
