A merchant vows 1899 will be the best year in trade. The new year opens with a stock worth about 6500 dollars, much of it fresh goods not seen twelve months ago. The sale lists cheap items from paper to books, bibles, envelopes, pencils, and household goods at low prices.
A L Mills announces spring stock arrival with ongoing reception of new items. Special attention to selection and style, with only a small space left for a few specialties.
New stock arrives with assorted embroideries and roc fabrics. Prices range from 12 1 2 to 18 cents, with quick turnover on popular items.

At the Hunts home on Thomas ton Street, Miss Connie Hunt married J Walter Flynt of Strouds Georgia at 3 pm Tuesday. Dr Harry Flynt served as best man and Miss Meta Murphey was maid of honor as Rev W S Stevens presided. Only relatives and a few friends attended this solemn wedding warmly praised by the Gazette.
Sunday afternoon at the bride’s parents home in Orchard Hill, Rosa Cook of Orchard Hill wed Wright C. Stocks of Barnesville. Dr. Rolte Hunt of Milner performed the ceremony. The bride is praised for her good qualities and Mr. Stocks is warmly regarded in the area. The couple will live in Barnesville and receive a cordial welcome from friends.

A Thomaston engine fatally struck Nancy Holloway a Black woman three miles from Barnesville at Wilson's crossing on Friday night. The engineer did not see her until twelve feet away as she ran along the track. The impact threw her into the air and then beneath the wheels. She appeared to be around middle age and may have been demented.
Mr. W. H. Chambers travels Alabama Tennessee and Kentucky for a large rubber goods house and plans to move to Kentucky to be nearer business. He and his wife will establish headquarters in the blue grass region. Barnesville regrets losing them but wishes prosperity.
Barnesville Chautauqua Association directors are requested to meet at the city hall this Thursday afternoon at 3 30 to discuss matters relating to the next session. W B Smith president B H Hardy secretary.
Barnesville plans a creamery with John Wallis proposing 700 gallons daily. Mayor Smith, J L Kennedy, J Dan Woodall and others back the project. A Saturday meeting at Kennedy's opera house will present expert talks from Redding and Wing of the Georgia Experiment Station.
Griffin correspondent notes veteran Baptist minister Uncle Wash Oliver, 74, in Macon town. Despite age he remains hale and hearty and spreads sunshine. He has baptized over 6,000 people and is beloved, with his churches displaying enlarged pictures in pulpits.
