Disastrous Warehouse Fire Strikes Town

Sunday midnight a warehouse owned by A O Murphy and Huntin flimes burned with 500 to 600 bales of cotton inside. Jeff Davis Hook and Ladder fire companies controlled the blaze in about thirty minutes. losses run to about 15000 dollars with two thirds insured. Farmers are the heaviest losers and authorities praise the fire crews and water works for their effective response.

Destructive cyclone strikes Forsyth area demolishing church

A cyclone passed south of Barnsville Tuesday night and hit Forsyth center, demolishing a Methodist church and causing severe damage to Proctor Huddleston Childs Pharr firms and Bloodworth Childs. Several Black homes were blown down. a Black woman was killed and another injured. Wires down hindered damage assessments. total loss reaches thousands of dollars.
