Death of Mrs C H Morris in Methodist church

Sunday morning at 2 o clock Mrs C H Morris died after months of illness of consumption. A devoted Methodist and Christian woman, she was loved by many. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon conducted by Rev H J Ellis, with interment in Greenwood cemetery. The community extends its sympathies to the family.

Fall Term Closes at Gordon Institute

The fall term at Gordon Institute closed yesterday afternoon after a highly successful period. Teachers and pupils deserve a rest, and students held their last night gatherings with friends at the homes of Misses Willie Hightower Carrie Cook and Trella Henderson, each hosting delightful parties.

Blasingame Nominated for Pike County Ordinary

Judge T J Blasingame of Zebulon was nominated for Ordinary of Pike County in the quiet primary last Friday. The vote total did not exceed six hundred with Blasingame winning by four votes over his strongest opponent J W Means. Other candidates B D Martin and J C Beskham received some support.

Death of Captain J H Darden of Milner

Captain J H Darden died Sunday at his Milner home after illness from pneumonia. A respected Milner and Coweta County figure and member of the Methodist church he served on the Democratic executive committee and earned broad esteem. Burial occurred Monday with Undertaker Sumners in charge.

Worthy Distinction as E H Myers Receives 2d Lieutenant Rank

Governor Atkinson grants E H Myers a 2d Lieutenant commission in the Georgia Volunteer Infantry under a 1893 law for state military school graduates after three years, with 100 in ranks and top ranker’s eligibility. Gordon Institute also receives commendation for the first commission under the new law.

Mr R B King Recovers From Bad Cut At Work

Mr King suffered a severe cut while using an adz at work last week. He is improving slowly and will be out of work for some time. Dr Perdue has been attending him.

The Horror Gazette prints a tribute from the Brecka family and Gordon Institute relatives praising the Barnesville Literary Club for placing a Georgia marble shaft over the late Prof R B Brecka’s grave. They express gratitude for the local memorial and its enduring remembrance.

Music Over The Wires Connects Several Towns

A Macon phonograph connected to the telephone at J W Stafford and Son's store carried music to R A Stafford W B Adams and Yatesville. Sound was clear at each stop and several pieces were heard. The experiment proved a success and Yatesville residents could enjoy Barnesville music.
