Mr. W. C. Stafford departs Monday for New York City to purchase tall and winter stock for J. W. Stafford & Sons. An experienced buyer, he anticipates a high quality selection for Middle Georgia stores. He is accompanied by Mr. Roy Blount to view sights.
Miss Rosa Morris a leading milliner from Macon has considered moving to Barnesville to open a millinery store. She has made many friends in the city who would welcome her arrival. Mrs W C Stafford and Mr Dexter Blount depart Monday for Monteagle Tenn for a several weeks visit.
Chief William Willis of Barnesville arrived in Macon to transfer two United States prisoners captured near Barnesville. Willis, regarded as a top state officer, has earned praise for several notable captures.
Dr. G. Pope Huguley and Mrs Huguley traveled to Porter Springs last Friday to see Mr. Frank M. Stafford who has been ill with fever. The physician reports Stafford is not dangerously ill and showing improvement, easing relatives and friends concerned about his condition.
Barnesville announces multiple warehousing facilities for the upcoming cotton season. The Granite Warehouse will be operated by J. L. Kennedy to serve customers. J. W. Stafford & Sons oversee the Murphey brick warehouse. J. T. Blalock expands with a moved office platform near the Presbyterian church. Polk Milner builds a new warehouse at his gunnery to support growers.
The public library opens in the rear of J. H. Bate & Co's store with about a thousand volumes. Mr. W T Bate serves as librarian. Members pay 2.00 per year for gentlemen and 1.00 for ladies with receipts extended until January first for those paying this quarter.

The initial bale of new cotton reached Barnesville last Saturday. It weighed 660 pounds with an eight cent per pound price, classed good middling and one eighth inch staple. Grown by P. F. Matthews and ginned by J. B. P. Milner, bought by E. H. Bloodworth of the Barnesville Cotton Exchange. It signals a strong market for the season in Middle Georgia.
J E P Milner proprietor of the Barnesville ginnery says machinery is overhauled and ready to give the best sample and turnout. He will also buy cotton seed at the highest market price and operate a warehouse charging cents per bale for weighing with N L Bush scalesman and W H Ellington salesman assisting patrons across the district.
Frank J Cheney sworn as senior partner of F J Cheney & Co Toledo promises one hundred dollars for each catarrh case not cured by Hall's Catarrh Cure. Notary A W Glason, December 6, 18%. Rev. G. A. Whitney will preach at the Presbyterian church next Sunday evening at eight o clock. He cannot preach in the morning as previously announced on last Sunday.

Col E A Stevens moves to Barnesville from McDonough after four years there as a lawyer. The Henry County Weekly notes his excellent personality and equipment, and Barnesville welcomes Col Stevens and his wife Mrs Stevens with best wishes and prospects for success.
The passage recalls Gov. Bob Taylor in Barnesville observing a lifelong bachelor who dreamed of romance yet never acted. He resolved to marry daily, but when faced with real courtship, courage failed and he withdrew from love’s challenge.

Mr. S. H. Childs of Summers Buggy Co. died last Friday night at The Stocks House from throat trouble. His remains were sent Saturday to North Vernon Indiana. He had no relatives in this state.
