John W Montgomery of Bellefonte Pennsylvania seeks a divorce from Peggy Unertl known as Peggy Udell of Milwaukee after a night that culminated in a wedding while he was intoxicated. Montgomery testified he was drunk at the ceremony and had no memory of the events after leaving the Garrick Theatre with two friends. A Philadelphia taxi ride involved a dice game before the marriage, according to Elkton Maryland court testimony.

Le land residents attended the millers convention in Chicago last week and visiting relatives gathered across multiple towns. Rev James W Johnson of Portage departed for Indianapolis to attend the Northern Baptist Convention with church members funding his expenses.
Obituary notes the Chicago death of Mrs Nellie A Temple nee Quiner. It highlights her father Edwin B Quiner a Civil War historian and former Watertown publisher, and recalls siblings Emma, Nellie, Katherine, Alice, and Charles. Survived by husband Arthur Temple and children Charles Robert Jessie. interment in Madison.
Booze raid ends with discovery of about twenty eight bottles of illicit liquor hidden near Hay Creek. Marshal Stowe and Constable Schleden made the seizure. no arrests reported in this raid, the second in two weeks.
Mrs Will Dickens and children traveled from Madison last Monday to honor graves in Ironton and Reedsburg. They returned Tuesday in a new Cadillac, after visiting La Valle acquaintances Walter Aron and Roman Schreiner, and hosting visitors Inez Webster, Ruthschwartz, Clarence Reuschlein, and Clarence Bettinger.
Locusts are said to be singing concerts in the oak woods between Black Hawk and Harrisburg this summer though their age is uncertain. Mrs. H Schaefer of Baraboo and her sons Willis and Ezra visited Roland Schaefer Sunday after seeing Mrs. Schaefer's mother Mrs. 8 R Davis in Spring Green. Irwin Lusby of Baraboo visited with his parents Mr and Mrs Gus Federman. Anglers fished at Okee over the weekend with J Bounty catching a seven pound pike. The band from here played at the Sauk City school picnic Monday and at Prairie du Lac Saturday night. Mrs Mary Lusby and sons Arthur and Howard of Fairfield and Mr and Mrs Joe Lusby of Baraboo visited Mrs John Hosig in Harrisburg Sunday. Mrs Wiliam Scholl is sick. Robert Schumacher moved to Plain last Monday.
About thirty Walton residents led by Rev and Mrs R P Targgart travel in six cars from Walton through Cazenovia Loyd Ithaca Sextonville and Richland Center. They dine roadside on a shady day and photograph the outing while noting irreplaceable ice storm damage and blooming corn. The group returns via Loganville Spring Green and nearby towns as weather concerns linger.
Barron Co-Operative Creamery produced 254 tubs totaling 16 256 pounds of butter in one day, surpassing prior marks. Managers A W Arndt and I W Simmson say the plant averages five or six tons on weekdays and promise another record soon.
Lee Westenhaven of the Merchants Power Company met residents at the Devils Lake North Shore to discuss electric service. Judge James H. Hill chaired and a six member committee was formed to arrange service and negotiate with the Power and Light firm. Members are J. H. Hill, H. H. Gottschall, Ray Underkofler, George Weber, Orriel Philbrick, and W. T. Marriott.
William Thom Sr and Jack O Neal visited at the Emies Rudolph Gore operation in Maple Hill. Selma Kruger of Loganville spent Sunday at home. Gertrude Getchman of Witwen vacationing there. Mrs E Vickers returned from the parental home. Mr and Mrs Richard Ulrich and family spent Sunday at Kilbourn. Two parties Saturday night at Ulrichs and Emil Meilkies. Born to Alfred McCoy and wife a son June 5. Elizabeth and Agnes McGuan of Baraboo, John Duncan of Adams, Harold Walsher mentioned. Maple Hill headed to Huron SD in McGuan car to visit Charles Duncan. Mary Hine vacationing with aunt Mrs Frank Ballone.
West Merrimack residents enjoyed a June 7 social hosted by the Elite club of Sumpter with ice cream and cake. Attendees included Howard Alma Ed Elsing Dorothy Steuber and several couples and families, reflecting local social ties. Portage resident Jack Kabele Sr. died aged 97 after a diabetes attack, leaving thirteen children and a Caledonia connection. Otto Johnson of Adams, brother of Hannah Vrooman, is hospitalized in La Crosse with acute indigestion. he formerly lived in Baraboo.
Forty barrels shipped from New York to Ireland were claimed as lard but proved to be munitions. British officials seized the consign ment as evidence is taken by the government ahead of action.
The funeral for Mrs. H. G. Lewis was held in Portage after her death a few days earlier. Born August 26 1860 in Caledonia, she was the daughter of David Owen and June Roberts Owen whose parents were early settlers. Her parents wed in Caledonia on December 25 1850, the first marriage in the settlement, and the bride was 90. She married H G Lewis on December 25 1883 and moved to Portage. Surviving pallbearers include George Brysons and four daughters. Roger Owen of Chicago. Mrs Margaret True of Taycheedah Wis and Mrs Griffith Howell of Hamilton Montana.
