Storms Cause Over 200000 in Road Damage Statewide
Rain storms and floods last week caused more than 200000 dollars in damage to the state trunk highway system. The worst washout occurred on trunk 57 between Bryham Green county and Green Bay, washing away about 200 feet of concrete highway.

Way freights resume from Baraboo to Elroy and Madison
Beginning Wednesday the way freights on the Northwestern road will again start from Baraboo with Baraboo as their terminal. One train will run Baraboo to Elroy and back, another to Madison and back to Baraboo. Rail men say Baraboo has not been a starting point for several years.

Prohibition raid uncovers still and liquor in Sauk County
Prohibition officers swept western Sauk County last week and found a still at George Bowell’s Bear Creek farm with a cooker nearby but locals claim no active use since the prohibition law. A Ruhland residence yielded a large container of liquor that was spilled during a hurried exit. a sack of booze was later found in a creek. Several cars and a box of yeast with 100 pounds of sugar appeared at the Ruhland property, while other visited sites produced no evidence. Seven children in the Bowell family are noted, three of whom work for others.

Farmer Loses Eye After Carbolic Acid Spill
Ben Dammen a farmer near Blanchardville was badly burned when a horse reared and spilled carbolic acid on his face destroying the sight of one eye. He was treating the horse at the time of the accident.

Nine year old Albert Nieman, son of Mr and Mrs Charles Nieman, alone with his sister six and one half miles southeast of Baraboo, shot a large rattlesnake through a window with his father's pistol after seeing it near the house. The snake had three rattles.

Missionary Emma L. Miller Dies in California
Emma L. Miller, known in Lodi as sister of Mrs. Mary S. Smith and active among Baptists in Wisconsin, died in Los Angeles after a four month illness. Born August 27, 1853 in Marshall, Wisconsin, she passed away May 24, 1922.
