Forest Fire Threat Near Ekala ka Sawmill Controls Sought
A forest fire discovered about 10 am two miles northeast of the Hall sawmill seven miles southeast of Ekala ka drew neighbors and sawmill workers to battle the flames. After nine hours of effort the blaze was believed under control though backfires and wind kept danger. Estimated damage minimal with personal property losses limited to the sawmill and George Meggen's ranch.

Waterfowl and shore birds abundant in Montana

Sale of Crow Indian lands in Montana under 1917 proclamation
Lands in the ceded portion of the Clay Indian Reservation Montana and coal and non coal lands within the reservation without valid existing rights will be offered for sale starting September 1 1917 at Billings under supervision of the Superintendent of opening and sale of Indian Reservations. Minimum price not less than 2.00 per acre, with coal lands reserved for coal deposits. The superintendent may set a higher minimum after initial offering.
