Miss Berthe Seel of twenty miles north of Camp Crook fought off a stranger who demanded money. She shot and wounded him after a brass lamp blow and a pistol grab, then the assailant fled on a sorrel horse. Deputies searched the area but found no clue.
Dan Wash of The Creek was arrested by Sheriff Boggs in Carter County for butchering a calf belonging to W. B. Padden and taking the meat. At Ekalaka preliminary hearing Wash was bound over to district court with $1,000 bond. An unidentified man found buried in a basement near the Occident elevator was described as lacking any identifying papers.
